LAWAS: The infrastructure development at Maragang GreenValley Dairy Sdn Bhd's Buffalo Farm reflects the Sarawak Government's continued commitment to strengthening the local food industry, especially the buffalo-based dairy subsector.
Sarawak's Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, said the effort not only supports the state's food security agenda, but also opens up new economic opportunities for the local community.
"This infrastructure development proves the Sarawak Government's determination to strengthen the local food industry, especially the buffalo-based dairy subsector which has high potential for commercial and sustainable development," he said.
He said this after leading a working visit to the buffalo farm to review the latest progress of the facility's development on Saturday.
Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman also stressed that an integrated approach involving aspects of breeding, processing and technical expertise is important to ensure the production of high-quality products that can penetrate a wider market.
The visit aimed to see first-hand the implementation of major infrastructure upgrades that support the buffalo-based cheese production project in a more systematic and viable manner.
Among the facilities that have been completed include a feedlot station, cheese making factory and storage warehouse which functions as an important component in the dairy product production chain.
Also present during the visit were Assistant Veterinary Officer of the Lawas Veterinary Services Department, Robine Asut, Chief Executive Officer of Maragang GreenValley Dairy Sdn Bhd, Dr Raja Imran Shah, Chief Operating Officer of Maragang GreenValley Dairy Sdn Bhd, Suzie Balung, Consultant of Maragang GreenValley Dairy Sdn Bhd, Dr Nur Husna Abdul Rahman, Consultant of Maragang GreenValley Dairy Sdn Bhd, Muhammad Ariff Mohd Adzeman and Cheese Making Expert Dr Lorenzo Garigllo.
