KUCHING: The engagement session for the Sri Aman Division swiftlet house project was held at the Main Meeting Room, Sarawak Veterinary Services Department Headquarters, here today.
The session was co-chaired by the Chairman of the Sri Aman Division Development Agency (SADA), Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim and the Director of the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department, Datu Dr Adrian Susin Ambud.
Among the main points discussed were a presentation by the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department regarding the development of swiftlet houses and the introduction of the swiftlet house ID system.
In addition, the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) also provided clarification on the licensing issue for the construction of swiftlet houses, including aspects of breeding, collecting and selling swiftlet nests.
The Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) also presented a briefing on the provisions under the Natural Resources and Environment (Prescribed Activities) Order 1994 relating to the industry.
The Land and Survey Department also participated by detailing the procedure for applying for a license for the purpose of constructing and maintaining a building or structure for a swiftlet house.
In a statement from SADA, this engagement session was an important platform to coordinate policies, harmonize procedures and ensure that the development of the swiftlet nest industry in Sri Aman Division can be implemented sustainably and in an orderly manner.
Also present were SADA Steering Committee Member, Datuk Amar Jaul Samion and Sri Aman Division Resident, Mahra Salleh, as well as representatives of relevant government agencies.
