KUCHING, 14 October: The Sustainable Modern Agriculture Through Rural Technopreneurship Program (SMART) exposes the youth and rural communities to Smart Agriculture, as well as providing exposure and guidance in the field of agriculture entrepreneurship.
Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi said it was a big step towards achieving Sarawak's goals in line with the essence of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
The text of his speech was read by Jepak assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, during the Postponement and Presentation of the Program Certificate in Bintulu, this morning.
"Smart agriculture is not just about technology but about how we adapt and change the way we farm more efficiently and sustainably," he said.
He also said that through programs like this, participants will be introduced to sophisticated techniques that can improve the yield and quality of agriculture products.
Program participant, Cecelia Rositie Aji, admitted that the program helped her in increasing her knowledge and competence in modern agriculture techniques.
While Clarissa Mendong, a retiree, also benefits from this program by mastering modern technology to increase income.
This program is seen as a noble effort to empower Sarawak's agriculture sector with more efficient and sustainable modern technology.
