PAKAN: The Sarawak government remains committed to improving the state's agriculture sector through the organization of the Agriculture Community Outreach Program (AgriCOP).
Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Martin Ben said, the effort is important to make Sarawak a significant food exporter.
"This program is one of the cores in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
"Through PCDS 2030, we are focusing on developing the agriculture sector and making Sarawak a food exporting state," he said.
He said this while representing the Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom to officiate the AgriCOP 2024 at Rumah George Chunggut, Nangsang here, on Tuesday.
In the meantime, he hopes that the AgriCOP program can help farmers increase their income in addition to supporting local economic growth.
"We also hope that this program also motivates rural farmers like those in Pakan to use new technology in line with the state government's policy to achieve the goal of sustainable development in Sarawak," he added.
Also present were Advisor at the Sarawak Premier's Office (Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development) Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak Sirai Daha, General Manager of SALCRA Joseph Blandoi and other guests.
