KUCHING (July 15): The sago industry will continue to see expansion in terms of market potential, especially in Mukah.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, said that sago processing infrastructure needs to be improved to ensure its quality and productivity.

At the same time, she said that collaboration among various stakeholders is also necessary to achieve this goal.

Hanifah also emphasized that it is a shared responsibility for everyone to ensure that traditional foods are cherished and passed down through generations.

She stated that such efforts would indirectly stimulate the local economy. Hanifah made these remarks during a visit to the sago processing building in Tellian, Mukah, yesterday.

The site visit was conducted by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) under the Community@Score program to identify the infrastructure improvement needs and plan coordinated efforts to enhance the productivity and quality of processing.

This initiative aligns with RECODA's commitment to improving the living standards of local communities through targeted infrastructure enhancements and development initiatives.

Among those present were representatives from RECODA, Mukah Service Centre, including the Dalat and Mukah District Council.
