FAMA organizes Sarawak state level marketing agent development course

KUCHING: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Board (FAMA) has organized the Sarawak State Level New Breed Marketing Entrepreneur (NBME) Development Course which was attended by 186 Center For Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) trainees located at the Smart Auditorium, CENTEXS Santubong Branch, on Thursday.

The Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (Utility), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said, the Sarawak State Level New Breed Marketing Entrepreneur (NBME) Development Course Program was held to produce new entrepreneurs who are competitive in the field of agriculture and the food industry through business strengthening to increase the income of the target group through digital marketing.

"This course is held to produce new entrepreneurs who run businesses with the 'reseller' or 'dropship' concept that connects students who are interested in following this program with the products of entrepreneurs who are on the Agrobazaar Online platform as marketing agents," he said.

He said this while speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Sarawak State Level New Breed Marketing Entrepreneur (NBME) Development Course at CENTEXS Santubong on Thursday.

To date a total of 10,649 students have been trained in this program and successfully produced 685 new entrepreneurs with a sales value of RM15.6 million generated through this program.

In addition to learning techniques and methods through this program, it indirectly makes the students and trainees involved a person who works and earns money even though they have not yet completed their studies.

Earlier, he was briefed on the Agrobazaar Online Portal (ABO) which is an e-commerce platform for the virtual marketing of agricultural and agrofood products that find producers, manufacturers, suppliers and consumers that is fully managed by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA).

In the meantime, he hopes that all course participants can apply the space and opportunities available to increase the market and income of entrepreneurs in line with the development of technology nowadays.

With the existence of such a course, he said, it can increase the income of all groups, subsequently helping efforts to guarantee the country's food security.

Also present were Sarawak State FAMA Director Ramli Mat Sani and Chief Executive Officer of Center For Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Seed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman.
