BELADIN: Modern farming methods and pineapple cultivation have the potential to become the main agricultural driver in Beting Maro.

Beting Maro Assemblyman, Razaili Gapor highlighted that agriculture is a primary source of livelihood for the local community.

“In Beting Maro, land is our first resource. If we put in the effort and interest, agriculture can generate sustainable income.

“Through allocations under BDDA, facilities and support are provided for farmers to improve yields and strengthen their earnings,” he said during the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) held in conjunction with the Beting Maro Carnival on Tuesday at Dataran Temenggung Kadir, Beladin.

The two-day event which began on September 8, offered farmers direct exposure to the latest agricultural technologies through exhibitions, model showcases and live demonstrations.

Razaili said such efforts are vital in equipping farmers with knowledge, awareness, and skills to enhance productivity and the quality of agricultural produce.

He added that the government remains committed to assisting farmers who are serious about succeeding in the industry by embracing modern methods and technology.

Looking ahead, Razaili outlined plans to elevate pineapple farming as a flagship industry in Beting Maro.

“The pineapple industry has strong potential here. With BDDA allocations, we will establish a collection centre to expand this sector.

“I hope farmers in Pusa District will seize this opportunity to increase their production of the SG1 variety. We have already identified suitable areas, and our goal is to grow this into a large-scale industry,” he said. The AgriCOP programme was designed to be informative and practical, ensuring local farmers could directly benefit.
